18 February – 5115 years after Krishna’s bodily departure

Krishna

“Don’t be scared or sorry as these are the ways of destiny…”, this was the last words of Krishna as told to Jara, a hunter mistook former’s feet to be a deer and accidentally shot him with the arrow. For, Krishna knew the law of Karma is universal. Even gods and avatars are subject to it.

On 18 February 3102 BCE Krishna went to a forest near Prabhasa theertham (the junction point where Gomathi river joins the sea), in Gujarat to meditate, in his chariot driven by Dharuka. Once reached there, he told Dharuka: “Go back. Inform all those left in Dwaraka, that it would be shortly submerged by ocean as Dwapara Yug was ending and that all should move to other places for safety…”

In the forest, Krishna witnessed his brother Balram attain the final liberation or videha mukti (consciously and intentionally leaving one’s body). After this he wandered about immersed in deep thought and finally began to accept his destiny. Then Krishna sat down to meditate.

He understood that his karma in this earth is almost over. He knew there is one more Karma left for Jara. It was a consequence of his own act of killing Bali in his previous incarnation as Lord Rama. When the hunter came by, he mistook Krishna for a deer and shot an arrow into his foot.

When Jara came and saw Krishna he was shocked and asked for forgiveness. Krishna smiled at him….

This world needs scholars like you.

Ek prashna hamesha maan mein aata hei?I heard one song in Childhood two lines of it ” Prabhu tari kasoti ni pratha sari nathi hoti ane Je sara hoy che eni Dasha sari nathi hoti ”
It means God the way you conduct test of people is not good and those who are good their condition is not good.

IF we see this in today’s world we see this is so relevant, good people suffer most, no one has seen anything beyond one world we know then why some people suffer so much ? Why God can not forgive them for their past sins?
Same time some people indulge in all that is not right and yet they have no trouble in their life.

For both type of people there is only one life why good person despite being near to God suffer so much?

I have seen some people suffering so much that their eyes also betray them and says I will be with you but will not give you tears .Their circumstances do not allow them to sit for a while & regret or cry on their situation.

I heard a father losing 1 son age 28-30.he is burdened with family burden of Daughter in law, grand son & also sad part is he has another son who is mentally not healthy .He managed to support both sons till they grow 28/30 & 32/34 .When Younger son grew 28 he was managing to be on his own & got married & had child but he dies & father is burdened with ensuring survival of Daughter in law & Grand son. God took away healthy son but the mentally ill son still survive, He is suffering , father is old , Daughter in law is now widow , Grand son does not know what is happening.
Whole life father worked to see if he can find some peace even in old age such a blow to his life!!!!.

Why God is sometime so ruthless? If God is Karunavtaar then why so much delay in showering karuna?

Ishwar kabhi khabhi itni pariksha leta hei ki ,maan bolta hei

“Iswar itna dukh dena tha toh muje banaya kyu?Shuk ka swad kya hota hei meine kabhi chakha hi nahi !!”
Shanti aur kshama yeh san ko kyo nahi milti?

    Jai Sia Ram.
    Jai shree Krisna

  4. Sudharsshan S Mohan says:

Pardon me for my poor English skills. Below is my critique to the write up and I apologize if this is insulting as it is not my intent. There are many flaws in the content and I have listed some below:
    1. “For, Krishna knew the law of Karma is universal. Even gods and avatars are subject to it” – Incorrect statement as Paramatma is not subject to Karma unlike Jeevatma. Paramatma does things as he wishes not bound by laws of nature, vedas or anything which is why he is swathanthran by nature and not paarathanthran like us.

    2. “……….and finally began to accept his destiny”- Incorrect statement as Paramatma decides what he wants to do and does not need to accept anything. He controls and is not controlled.

    3. “….place where the body of Krishna was lying.”- Incorrect. Krishna does not leave his body. He departs to Paramapadam along with his Shanka, Chakra, Rath (chariot) and himself with his thirumeni (body).

My humble comment – ithahasam, puranam must not simply be read but read with understanding using our poorvacharya’s grantham and upadesam.

    adiyein Ramanuja daasan.

Krishna left Vrindavan at before the age of 11 never to return. All this Radha and Raas Leela business is cock n bull story. In Mahabharata there is no Gopi called Radha. The only Radha I came across is Karna’s foster-mother because of which he is also referred to as Radhey

  38. PISUPATI RAVI KUMAR says:

Sir,It is excellent and I have no words rather. Heart touching lines “karma, the way to destiny’ are simply superb. Our teachers should teach in this level to students. Your explanations cleared many doubts.Lord Sri Krishna enumerated truths about love, philosophy, Politics and many related to human life. Killing others and doing slavery is not karma. All actions of a human being concerned to Kama,Krodha,Lobha,Mada,Moha and Mathsarya. Performing these acts are nothing but Karma. Human mind is full of desires and those desires will have demand to satisfy the body. This is the philosophy of body other wise language. This is Karma,an eternal but not escapism.Human body desires demands for satisfaction. For all questions of life, Lord through GEETA has given answers and solutions. No super powers are necessary to perform karma. It is also clearly mentioned in GEETA.

I was so surprised about Krishna’s Death and cursed of Gandari from Mahabhrat1! couldn’t accept his death like that! Oh God is also not hide from death! It was very pain full to read the story that how hard work Krishna to establish the Tharma to world and he also had punishment for that. I’m glad that Arujuna got the last work for Krishina thats the real blessing for him.

I’m hindu devotie like crazy in my religion very shame that never find out that lord Krishna died like that. I can’t take my breath oh god please forgive me!

  53. good articles says:

The article was such a good one. I visualised whole event while reading it.
Lately, i came to know about Brahmakumarism movement which is spreading all negativities about Lord Krishna secretly in their centers to their followers. They consider their head as Krishna. Is that at all possible? They also tell that Bhagwad Gita is not given by Lord Krishna but their head has written it. And all their lacs of followers believe it. Shivani is just a PR face of BKWSU. They have named their institutions as Pandav Bhavan, Madhuban , Vrindavan to show that they are the right people & other religion theories & literatures are wrong.
I am just sharing this peace of information because they appear big threat to our religious values & systems. Also many people here posted question against Lord Krishna appears to be influenced greatly by Brahmakumaris. Someone please reply.

    • Neeraj says:

I have no idea what Brham Kumari organisation says about Lord Krishna and Bhagvad Geeta but as I met someone who is staunch believer of Brahamkuari’s philosophy , I found him confused and misguided. So don’t give them any importance.

The itch of co relating our human psyche with gods story still remains… God is God… not super human … much much beyond all the zenith epic up centered…in film ” PIE ” the boy feels god in storm where routine human efforts are shown so useless … as we have seen in disasters God had a friend who meets after 100 yrs for un conditional love and romantic melodramatic happy endings …To many of us God is beyond … he is ocean of love and we are thirsty of a drop….

God lies in all the good things all the massive things need not be in form of human…. he is in love , hate , war , disasters , romance , births , celebrations .. whole good and bad … some readers have also criticized it as its a escapism and myth answering convinient path selecting blogging !! gross generalising and missing the point attitude… to me it was a very deep dive and really really enjoyed…

  97. drHjoshi says:

Sir, Jaishree krishna and pranam…”lord krishna as human being was there or not ” the ethical best arguments in a blog has again highlighted research oriented focused thinking and cream divine thoughts.. from the soil , fire , air, water ,earth , various resources a unit created… worshiped… celebrated… and … it goes back to all those resources..GOD is also not apart from line…This is the cosmic routine… world is in great order.. already… its dynamic volcanoes in our mind only…. !!!

“ You need not repent, because you were bali……………………………………………………………. Since all acts in this world are done as desired by me, you need not worry for this. Krishna solaced him”
Especially here in these quotes and in your whole article you try to prove the eternity of LAW OF KARMA (Ami right ?)
Well, but My old doubts starts arising here.
If law of karma is eternal and all acts in this world is desired by Krishna (or God), then all good and bad acts are happening due to his desire then why to take credit or to blame someone particular. why to blame on Hitler for mass killing, why to blame ravana and what is the logic to give someone else NOBEL prize.
I take One step ahead, all poor of this world/country should make merry that they all are the part of cosmic joke of god called the LAW OF KARMA. At all, they all poor should not try for their up forwardness to become rich and should not try to improve their living standard. India remain Slave for more than 1000 years what a great desire of our God?
You tried and choose example of RAM and Bali KILLING AND HENCE JUSTFIED THE LAW OF KARMA.
Here you had luxury that you could figure out two examples on the basis of two great mythological book referring to two different era and mentioning the connection of Ram with Krishna and Bali with Jara. But in today era can you figure out that who is at fault and who is doing an act as outcome of his previous birth.
For example if now a person A is getting killed by person B then may be B is killing A for his previous birth karma that might be A killed him in his previous or B is developing a new sanskar that in next janam A will kill B and make B to get rid of The debt of LAW OF KARMA.
The moot point is this how will you decide that an act is an outcome of last birth or a new sanskara which will lead his coming lives.
In practical life LAW OF KARMA will create chaos or a very good excuse of escapism.
Like in india it is a very good tool of escapism, if some is poor then blame to his last birth, if some is rich credit to his last janam sanskara.
Until and unless if you are not responsible for your act you cannot grow , no doubt we could not grow since last 1000 years because these kind of absurdity as law of karma.
I hope that krsihna would have solaced Jara like this “ Jara you were so absorbed in hunting and aiming your target, your act was not an output of reaction rather it was a pure act of awareness. So do not feel sorry.A Bow is a bow , it can not differentiate between me and deer so this is a law of nature and hence I will die. “

I think prashant. U r not taking law of karma as the way it is determining our lives,,its. Jst that whatevr we do we will get back ,whether good or bad it will come to us. its is true we cannot b remain without karma for a single moment ,n evry time we do ,interect with our surroundings we r bound to all that atachmnt, greed, fear, lust ,anger ,resentment etc ..thus our karma and its results sooner or later..this cycle goes on timeless for many birth until. We became aware of our trueselv ,experienc that divine experience, thn only we get libertated from this cycle in an ultimate peace, the good or bad both exist, thats maya,by law of karma we can preferably try to associate with positiv. Good karma which will lead to our way of self realiztion,.law of karma or say we ouselves detemines our destiny,When there is something wrong we see in us or society and aware of that ,than instead of ignoring,or blaming someone should make effort to set it right as much we can.We r in whatever state ill or healthy, rich or poor ,we should not sit idle thinking this our fate ,bt should do good karma so as to progres from that state ,its where religion helps us ,gives us strength, courage to let our fear,weakness,..go n helps us acheive pure n peaceful state of ourselves

when Krishna will come back again on earth?

  105. Radhakrishnan.N.R says:

I understand that Radha’s name is not found in Srimad Bagavadam. Is it true? If it is not true, how do we connect the story ofRadha?

  106. Manjunath Putted says:

Jai sri krishn.sri krishna said that, he,ll always come to distroy untruth(adharma) so where is lord krishna, or simply he watching this untruth(adharma) on innocent ppl. In today life there is a lot of politicians are selfish this is’t there,s dharma bcz these politicians if v compared to ancient time they r equal to kshatrya bcz they also were king ruling whole dynesty n nw in modern days politicianc are ruling india so both are same then y should,t coming lord krishna. If it continues den common ppl won,t be trust on name of god. Even im also getting doubt.

  107. Kannan says:

An excellent narration which transports one to the age of Sri Krishna. I have one doubt. If Dwapara Yuga lasted for 8 lac plus years then Sri Rama avatar should have happend much before. However archealogical evidence suggests that the most ancient of the civilizations occured around 7500 to 10000 BCE. Obviously there is some disconnect somewhere. Can Shri Udaylalji throw some light on the same.

  108. Nitesh says:

    Couple of doubts here

What is Destiny? Who controls it?If god also cannot have control Over the destiny..Why do we believe that our Destiny Is controlled by god?

  109. KIRAN KUMAR says:

In the wikipedia version about lord krishna(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krishna); refer to the later life section whee you can find the sentence “Vaishnava teachers such as Ramanujacharya and Gaudiya Vaishnavas held the view that the body of Krishna is completely spiritual and never decays (Achyuta) as this appears to be the perspective of the Bhagavata Purana.”

“Though Lord Krishna appeared in a human body, He had a divine body not composed of the five elements. He did not take any birth here in the usual sense of the term. He did not die. He appeared and disappeared through His Yoga Maya as He has declared in the Gita.”
and also srimad bhagavatam says that the form of lord is unperishable as it is not made of 5 elements.

SO i wonder what might happen to the form of lord krishna after his death???

  110. KIRAN KUMAR says:

I came to know about from scriptures that the body of lord krishna is not made up of materialistic 5 elements, his form is his yogamaya and achyuta rupa(unperished). After the submergence of dwaraka by the sea, the body of lord krishna also submerged into the sea. I feel, the form of lord be present somewhere in the depth of the ocean, which can’t be perceived by the normal human intelligence.

Form of lord might be similar to the svayambhu form of lord balaji( lord vishnu after he left to vaikunta) as it is present in the heavenly abode of tirumala.

After reading your blog I am partly convinced that Lord Krishna after all was not just a fictional character. Someone had been recording the dates of his advent and departure from this earth. Dwarka was submerged under water is the only fact from history, which sounds quite convincing.

A well informed blog,Dr…….Just near Somnath temple in Gujarat, there is a place called Bhaluka Tirth where Krishna was meditating under a pipal tree……The hunter Jara ,who was a Bhil tribal ,mistook the feet of the Lord for the face of a deer……..As he came close by, he realised his mistake & begged for forgiveness…..The Lord said…..”Yes, this was to happen….It was in my destiny….My blessings are with you…You ve done no wrong at all”…………There is this beautiful statue of Krishna at Bhaluka tirth sitting with His injured feet & the hunter Jara asking for forgiveness at His feet with folded hands………..After being hit by the arrow ,Krishna walked 4 kms & left His mortal body & proceeded towards Nijdham………At this place , a beautiful Gita mandir is built with the chapters of Gita carved in marble…….& Krishna’s lotus feet is also here for darshan…………. a well written blog…..

This is a wonderful write up on :
1)how destiny acts even in case of Gods
    2) how dharma and truth should prevail without taking sides based on personal attachments and benefits
    3) how true love can prevail, not confused with sex, clinging insecure
attachment but based on pure surrendering. Even today’s supposedly wise and old, and the impulsive and young dont realise this

The last words of lord krishna is for Daruka ,is like this:
“Go and give the message to the people of dwaraka leave the place immediately as the sea will engulf the city in midnight .Donot cry come out of grief.what ever you see ,and what ever jivaloka you observe all are places of great sorrow. These all governed by the principle of my power known as maya thats why you just remember me and be in peace.”
Thanks for your research ,analysis and realization.

Love is simply love . where there are terms and conditions that is simply not love but an understanding just like two buisness associates do have .
sex is just the ultimate union of not only two bodies but of two souls -a merger when we look at it from a higher prespective nd it then really acts as an elixir of life , an act of rejuvenation . and that makes sex a spiritual act .
what is happening to day is -sex merely has become a mechanical act and then wear and tear is bound to be there . it then derains a person of all the energy at all the gross as wel as higher plane of our being .
sex is there every where in nature . look at the insects , bees , butterflies all are busy nd enjoy the bliss . it is only the human beings who are so complexed nd confused becoz they neither understood the purpose them selves nor they cud deliver the meaning nd essence to their future generations , that is why , so much of confusion every where all over the world .
it we shift the focus of sex from gross (lower ) to subtle ( higher ) level trust me all the ills in the society wud be wiped off becoz then u wud really look for a genuine nd true mate and so will one’s mind will work only in that direction at higher frequencies of life but then it really needs real effort both at individual level nd at broad based level .
what is happening tosay to understand the level of love of radha nd krishna one has to rise on the higher levels of consciousness and then all is bliss nd we all are love and so is our soul the basic quality of soul the fragment of the supersoul .–nice write up as usual .

What you have written above is good, may be contested by pundits who believe that they are the only one who are being guided by HIM, so do not worry about these persons and keep your thoughts coming to surface so that more and more souls can give a thought on it.

It is really a news for me.
“On 18 February 3102 BCE Krishna went to a forest near Prabhasa Theertham (the junction point where Gomathi river joins the sea), in Gujarat to meditate, in his chariot driven by Dharuka. Once reached there, he told Dharuka: “Go back. Inform all those left in Dwaraka, that it would be shortly submerged by ocean as Dwapara Yug was ending and that all should move to other places for safety…”
    Thank you.

    Pranaam Udaylalji,
I am your fan. I closely follow your research blogs. Some you have already posted to me through mail. You have done extensive research in re-relating the Maha Bharath events and Krishna Leelas chronology and matching dates of Christian Era calendar.
These dates make us believe that Kurukshetra War was actually happened in the history. Many of the incidents are super-natural. Yet I have immense faith in Lord Krishna, as He is my favourite hero of all times.
I wish many of ST readers should read this research paper. Jai Sri Krishna.

It appears as if some one is doing vedio recording of things. We must not forget writers views are included in the version he is writing. But exact history can be different.
Your narration is more an epic or a story.

For generations, Krishna has been an enigma to some, but God to millions, who go ecstatic even as they hear his name. People consider Krishna their leader, hero, protector, philosopher, teacher and friend all rolled into one. Krishna has influenced the Indian thought, life and culture in myriad ways. He has influenced not only its religion and philosophy, but also into its mysticism and literature, painting and sculpture, dance and music, and all aspects of Indian folklore.
After the great war, Krishna returned to Dwarka. In his final days on earth, he taught spiritual wisdom to Uddhava, his friend and disciple, and ascended to his abode after casting off his body, which was shot at by a hunter named Jara. He is believed to have lived for 125 years. Whether he was a human being or a God-incarnate, there is no gainsaying the fact that he has been ruling the hearts of millions for over three millennia. In the words of Swami Harshananda, “If a person can affect such a profound impact on the Hindu race affecting its psyche and ethos and all aspects of its life for centuries, he is no less than God.”
    Thank You,Jai Sri Krishna

  129. A K TRIPATHI says:

There are many things in our scriptures(depending on available translations) which at times become difficult to understand- for ex. Lord Krihsna had 16,000 Wives (as I read in Mahabharata-Hindi translation).Let us answer this question- 1. In first place,Should we believe it to be true? 2.Is there any historical evidence of it? 3.quite possible ,instead of literal meaning , we should take its symbolic meaning.
I would like to know your view in this regard.

    • This has deep meaning as I believe that we have 16000 nerves in our body, which were symbol of wives to Krishna.

    • E. A. Mukunda Pai says:

      Dear Tripathi,

16000 wiwes to krishna is not physical it is mental. Krishna”s mind is the purest of all minds and I like all wifes minds should purify and mix up with krishna”s mind. Even I used to tell my wife that you should also be krishna”s wife, purify and accept the full qualities of krishna

      • Professor Susamoy Mittra says:

Excellent realization, thinking and guideline given by Your Holiness E. A. Mukunda Pai ! This is need of the hour to overcome conflict. Jai Sri Krishna

    • Aditya says:

      Tripathi sir,

I am very young to explain this thing, but if i am not wrong then there was a devil who kidnapped these women. Lord Krishna saved them by killing that rakshas. Now as per the rule of that time, a person had to marry the women he saved or had to keep her with him. So instead of keeping them, Lord Krishna married all of them to give them a respectable life ahead. Moreover that, these things are in cyclic form. This is also related to tretayuga where Lord Ram went to Janakpuri to Marry Mata Seets. All the ladies of the city after seeing Lord Ram Wished to have a husband like him in the future. Lord Ram accepted that and marry all of them in his this Janma. If u Remember there was a Rakshasi Putana who tried to kill Shri Krishna by feeding him her poisonous milk when he was born. This was also related to the previous incarnation of God Vishnu’s Waman avatar. On seeing such a pretty Brahaman kid, Wife of king Mahabali wished that she can breast feed this child. but when this child took over all these things she in anger wished to kill him by putting poison on her breast and feeding it to him. This lady reincarnated as Puatan in Dwaparyuga and lord Krishna fulfilled her wish of last Janma.

Please Direct me if I am wrong anywhere..

There are some flaws in this article , First of all Lord Vishnu and all his incarnations are Amar , they dont die . No – one can kill them nither they are subjected to any worldly Karma as all other living entities , There is no mention in the scripture that Vali came as a hunter to Kill Krishna .Death of Krishna itself is wrong word , rather we can say his departure .

      • Venkatakrishnan M says:

I am sure, Ajinkyaji, I am with you. When he could show his Vishwaroopam to Arjuna and give us Bhagavad Gita, He would have simply left Earth.

        • Brave Indian says:

Krishna left Vrindavan at before the age of 11 never to return. All this Radha and Raas Leela business is cock n bull story. In Mahabharata there is no Gopi called Radha. The only Radha I came across is Karna’s foster-mother because of which he is also referred to as Radhey .

        • Shukla says:

He cannot as anything which takes a material form on this universe has to be left here. so the body which Vishnu took has to be left here in the form of atom and molecules or ashes. but the supreme soul has to leave .
